Erika Lust Films
Creative writing, content strategy and content creation for award-winning erotic director Erika Lust.
Swedish director Erika Lust is known for leading a new wave of ethical adult cinema production. She challenges chauvinist mainstream pornography by putting women behind the cameras and in decision-making roles.
During my period working with her, I was in charge of all copywriting, curated & created content for her main project XConfessions, prepared events & PR, did the curatorship of Lust Cinema and coordinated her first non-profit project The Porn Conversation.
I also helped in one or two scripts, and yes, went to a whole bunch of shootings (just in case you were wondering...).
In the past few years, Erika has given a TED Talk, was featured in tons of newspapers and magazines, hosted screenings all over the world, and her work was the subject of a whole episode in Netflix's docuseries Hot Girls Wanted – Turned On. She's pretty much a phenomenon of sex-positive feminism and her name is frequently heard in women's sexual empowerment debates.
Working for Erika Lust was a lot of fun (porn for breakfast was my everyday routine), but also incredibly challenging. Social media guidelines, Google's censorship, and intense public opinion debates would make for great obstacles when communicating her work. We would always choose the "shed the light" path – and, for that, creativity was always our best weapon.
Erika Lust Films runs three online streaming platforms (Lust Cinema, Erotic Films and XConfessions); Erika Lust Store for downloads, toys and cosmetics; Erika Lust’s website (including her blog); and a non-profit project willing to encourage sex education for young people: The Porn Conversation.
